Removal
INTERIOR: ROOF HEADLINING (for Double Cab):
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
- Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Repair Instruction - Initialization).
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat)
(a) Remove the front seat (Removal).
3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat)
(a) Remove the front seat (Removal).
4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Center Seat)
(a) Remove the front seat (Removal).
5. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Double Cab)
(a) Remove the rear seat (Removal).
6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
(a) Detach the 6 claws and 3 clips, and remove the scuff plate.
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
8. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
(a) Detach the 6 claws and 2 clips, and remove the scuff plate.
9. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
10. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Detach the 2 clips and remove the cowl side trim board.
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH
13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
14. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH
15. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
16. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the 2 assist grip plugs.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and assist grip.
(c) Detach the claw and remove the front pillar garnish.
(d) Protect the curtain shield airbag.
(1) Thoroughly cover the airbag with a cloth or nylon sheet and fix the ends of the cover with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
17. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
18. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH
(a) Detach the 2 claws and remove the cover.
(b) Remove the bolt and outer lap belt anchor.
(c) Detach the 7 clips and 2 claws, and remove the center pillar garnish.
19. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
20. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the 2 assist grip plugs.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and assist grip.
(c) Remove the 2 screws.
(d) Detach the claw.
(e) Pass the front seat outer belt floor anchor through the center pillar garnish, and remove the center pillar garnish.
21. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
22. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Detach the 6 claws of the plate, and slide the plate in the direction of the arrow to remove it.
23. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
24. REMOVE LOWER QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Detach the 2 claws and remove the cover.
(b) Remove the bolt and outer lap belt anchor.
(c) Detach the 6 clips and remove the quarter trim panel lower.
25. REMOVE LOWER QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
26. REMOVE FRONT QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts.
(c) Detach the 4 clips.
(d) Pass the rear seat outer belt floor anchor through the quarter trim panel, and remove the quarter trim panel.
27. REMOVE FRONT QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
28. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
(a) for Short Type:
Remove the roof console box (Removal).
(b) for Long Type:
Remove the roof console box (Removal).
29. REMOVE ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY (w/ Short Type Roof Console Box)
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the lens.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Detach the 4 clips.
(c) Disconnect the connector and then remove the room light.
30. REMOVE VISOR BRACKET COVER LH
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.
31. REMOVE VISOR BRACKET COVER RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
32. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH
(a) w/o Illumination:
Remove the visor.
(1) Remove the 3 screws and visor.
(b) w/ Illumination:
Remove the visor.
(1) Remove the 4 screws.
(2) Disconnect the connector and then remove the visor.
33. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
34. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER (w/o Illumination)
(a) Remove the screw and visor holder.
HINT: Use the same procedure to remove the visor holder on the other side.
35. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Detach the 2 clips and remove the assist grip.
36. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP PLUG
(a) Insert a screwdriver into the service notch and break off the cap.
(b) Detach the clip and remove the assist grip plug.
37. REMOVE COAT HOOK
HINT: Use the same procedure to remove the coat hook on the other side.
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the coat hook cap.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Detach the clip and remove the coat hook.
38. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY
(a) w/ EC Mirror:
(1) Detach the 2 claws and remove the inner rear view mirror cover.
(2) Disconnect the EC mirror connector.
(b) Disconnect the roof wire connector and detach each clamp from the front pillar.
(c) Detach the 4 clips and remove the roof headlining.
NOTE: Place the removed headlining in the cabin so that it will not be damaged.

44. TAKE OUT ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY
(a) Take out the roof headlining from the cabin as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the roof headlining when taking it out.
