CD Sound Skips

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CLEAN CD





(a) If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by wiping the CD's underside radially with a soft cloth.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
NOTE: Do not use a conventional record cleaner or antistatic preservative.

NG -- REPLACE CD WITH ANOTHER AND RECHECK
OK -- CD WAS DIRTY
2. REPLACE CD WITH ANOTHER AND RECHECK
(a) Replace the CD with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
NG -- CHECK WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS
OK -- CD IS FAULTY
3. CHECK WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS
(a) Check the location in which CD skipping occurs.

B -- INSTALL NAVIGATION RECEIVER IN ANOTHER VEHICLE OF SAME MODEL AND COMPARE
A -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER INSTALLATION
(a) Check the installation condition of the navigation receiver.
OK:
Installed properly.
NG -- INSTALL NAVIGATION RECEIVER PROPERLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSTALL NAVIGATION RECEIVER IN ANOTHER VEHICLE OF SAME MODEL AND COMPARE
(a) Remove the navigation receiver and install it in another vehicle of the same model. Check if the CD sound skips.
OK:
CD sound does not skip.
NG -- DID TEMPERATURE IN CABIN CHANGE RAPIDLY?
OK -- MALFUNCTIONS MAY NOT BE PRESENT
6. DID TEMPERATURE IN CABIN CHANGE RAPIDLY?
(a) Check whether or not a rapid temperature change occurred in the cabin.
OK:
Rapid temperature change occurred.
HINT: A rapid temperature change creates condensation inside the CD player, which may disable CD playback.

NG -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
OK -- CONDENSATION DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGE (LEAVE AS IS FOR A WHILE BEFORE USING)
