Rear Wiper Motor








WIPER AND WASHER: REAR WIPER MOTOR: INSPECTION

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
CAUTION: When inspecting the rear wiper motor assembly, be careful of the wiper pivot bracket because it will rotate when voltage is applied to the rear wiper motor assembly.
NOTICE:
- Be sure to remove the rear wiper motor assembly according to the removal procedure Removal.
- Inspect the rear wiper motor assembly (for glass hatch type) with the centering jig installed.





(a) Check the wiper operation.
(1) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 4 (+B), and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (LS) and terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates.
OK:
Motor operates.
If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.
(b) Check the INT operation.
(1) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 4 (+B), and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2 (C1) and terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates.
OK:
Motor operates.
If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.
(c) Check the automatic stop operation.
(1) Put the matchmarks on the windshield wiper motor assembly.
(2) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 4 (+B), and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (LS) and terminal 5 (E). With the motor rotating, disconnect terminal 3 (LS) to stop the wiper motor operation at any position other than the matchmarks.
(3) Check that the motor stops automatically at the matchmarks.





OK:
Motor stops automatically at the matchmarks.
If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.
