STEERING COLUMN: POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM: B2610: Tilt Position Sensor or Tilt Motor Circuit Malfunction

DTC B2610 - Tilt Position Sensor or Tilt Motor Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The tilt motor is operated by the power source voltage supplied from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU and tilts the steering column up and down. The tilt position sensor (Hall IC) in the tilt motor detects the tilt angle of the steering column and outputs a signal to the CPU based on that tilt.

HINT: Limit positions can be confirmed on the screen of the Techstream.

WIRING DIAGRAM

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TILT UP/DOWN)

(a) Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the tilt up/down function operates normally.

Tilt & Telescopic

Result

B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - TILT POSITION SENSOR)
A -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - TILT MOTOR)

(a) Disconnect the H57 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the H58 tilt motor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT TILT MOTOR

(a) Connect the positive (+) battery terminal to terminal 2 (TIM+) and the negative (-) battery terminal to terminal 1 (TIM-) of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts up.
OK:
The steering wheel tilts up.
(b) Connect the negative (-) battery terminal to terminal 2 (TIM+) and the positive (+) battery terminal to terminal 1 (TIM-) of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts down.
OK:
The steering wheel tilts down.

NG -- REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - TILT POSITION SENSOR)

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - BODY GROUND)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. INSPECT MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU (VCI, TIS TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

(a) Reconnect the H57 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. INSPECT TILT POSITION SENSOR

(a) Reconnect the H58 tilt motor connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU
