All Door Entry Lock/Unlock Functions And Wireless Functions Do Not Operate

DOOR LOCK: SMART KEY SYSTEM: All Door Entry Lock/Unlock Functions and Wireless Functions do not Operate
- All Door Entry Lock/Unlock Functions and Wireless Functions do not Operate

DESCRIPTION

When the entry functions and wireless door lock functions do not operate, a malfunction or wave interference may be occurring in either of the following: 1) signal communication line between the door control receiver and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) (line is used for entry and wireless functions); or 2) electrical key transmitter.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* Before performing the inspection, check that there are no problems related to "CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM" and "LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM".
* Check that there are not electrical key transmitters in the vehicle.
* Before performing the inspection, check that DTC B1242 is not output B1242.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION

(a) When the door control switch on the master switch assembly is operated, check that the locked doors unlock Operation Check.

OK:

Locked doors unlock.

NG -- GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM Problem Symptoms Table
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER

(a) When another registered door control transmitter is used, check that the wireless and entry functions operate normally Operation Check.

Result:

A -- CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT
B -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER (LED)

(a) Check that the transmitter's LED illuminates 3 times when the switch is pressed 3 times.

Result:

HINT
If the transmitter's LED does not illuminate the second or third time, replace the transmitter battery as it is depleted.

B -- REPLACE ELECTRICAL TRANSMITTER BATTERY Removal

A -- REPLACE ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER
C -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT TRANSMITTER BATTERY (VOLTAGE)

(a) Remove the battery from the electrical key transmitter that does not operate. Attach a lead wire (0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) in diameter or less including wire sheath) with tape or equivalent to the negative terminal Removal.

NOTICE:
Do not wrap the lead wire around a terminal, wedge it between the terminals, or solder it. A terminal may be deformed or damaged, and the battery will not be able to be installed correctly.

(b) Carefully pull the lead wire out from the position shown in the illustration and install the previously removed transmitter battery.

(c) Using an oscilloscope, check the transmitter battery voltage waveform.

HINT
When measuring the battery voltage, while operating the lock switch of a door outside handle, bring the electrical key transmitter within the entry operating range to perform the measurement. For the entry operating range, refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Door Lock - Smart Key System.

Standard voltage:

NG -- REPLACE ELECTRICAL TRANSMITTER BATTERY Removal

OK -- REPLACE ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER

5. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT

(a) Bring the electrical key transmitter near the door control receiver, and perform a wireless and smart operation check.

HINT
* When the electrical key transmitter is brought near the door control receiver, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.
* If the inspection result is that the problem only occurs in certain locations or times of day, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.

OK:

Wireless and entry functions operate normally.

NG -- INSPECT FUSE (EFI NO. 1)

OK -- AFFECTED BY WAVE INTERFERENCE

6. INSPECT FUSE (EFI NO. 1)

(a) Remove the EFI NO. 1 fuse from the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block).

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FUSE (EFI NO. 1)
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - BATTERY AND GROUND)

(a) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER - CERTIFICATION ECU)

(a) Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and door control receiver connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. REPLACE DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER

(a) Replace the door control receiver Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER (OPERATION)

(a) Check that the wireless and entry functions operate normally.

OK:

Wireless and entry functions operate normally.

NG -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) Removal

OK -- END (DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER IS DEFECTIVE)
