DESCRIPTION

Even when the theft deterrent system is in the disarmed state, the security indicator blinks due to a signal output from the immobiliser system. The security indicator blinks continuously due to a continuous signal received from the immobiliser system while in the armed state.

The main body ECU causes the security indicator to come on only during the arming preparation and alarm sounding states.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Select the item below in the Active Test and then check that the indicator operates.

Main Body





OK:

The security indicator light flashes and goes off correctly when operated through the Techstream.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - MAIN BODY ECU)

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Theft Deterrent System

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - MAIN BODY ECU)

(a) Remove the main body ECU from instrument panel junction block assembly Removal.





(b) Disconnect the D18 combination meter assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - BODY GROUND)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)

(a) Disconnect the 2D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Removal

5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

(a) Reinstall the main body ECU and the instrument panel junction block assembly.





(b) Perform Active Test using the Techstream to turn the security indicator to the ON state Theft Deterrent System.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
