MIRROR (EXT): OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (w/o EC Mirror)





(a) Check the outer rear view mirror operation.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the outer rear view mirror.

OK:





If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(b) w/ Mirror heater:





Check the mirror heater.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(2) Connect the cable from the negative battery (-) terminal to terminal 4 (+) and the positive battery (+) terminal to terminal 3 (-). Then check that the mirror becomes warm.

OK:

Mirror becomes warm.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

HINT
It takes a short time for the mirror to become warm.

2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH (w/o EC Mirror)





(a) Check the outer rear view mirror operation.

OK:





If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(b) w/ Mirror heater:





Check the mirror heater.

(2) Connect the cable from the negative battery (-) terminal to terminal 4 (+) and the positive battery (+) terminal to terminal 3 (-). Then check that the mirror becomes warm.

Mirror becomes warm.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

HINT
It takes a short time for the mirror to become warm.

3. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (w/ EC Mirror)





(a) Check the outer rear view mirror operation.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(b) Check the mirror heater.

(2) Connect the cable from the negative battery (-) terminal to terminal 1 (+) and the positive battery (+) terminal to terminal 2 (GND). Then check that the mirror becomes warm.

OK:

Mirror becomes warm.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

HINT
It takes a short time for the mirror to become warm.

(c) Check the retractable mirror's movement.

(1) For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.

OK:





NOTICE:
* Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.
* The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(d) Check the EC mirror operation.

4. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH (w/ EC Mirror)





(a) Check the outer rear view mirror operation.

OK:





If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

(b) Check the mirror heater.
