1AR-FE INTAKE / EXHAUST: EXHAUST MANIFOLD: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

(a) Install the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator with the bolt.

Torque : 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)

2. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

(a) Using SST, install the air fuel ratio sensor to the exhaust manifold.

SST : 09224-00010

without SST - Torque : 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

with SST - Torque : 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf)

HINT
* The "with SST" torque value is effective when using SST with a fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.).
* The "with SST" torque value is effective when using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.) Service Precautions.
* The "with SST" torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.

3. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET

(a) Install a new exhaust manifold to head gasket.

4. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD

(a) Temporarily install the exhaust manifold with the 5 nuts.





(b) Tighten the 5 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

Torque : 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf)

5. INSTALL EGR INLET EXHAUST MANIFOLD PLATE

(a) Install the EGR inlet exhaust manifold plate with the bolt.

Torque : 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)

6. INSTALL NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY

(a) Install the No. 2 manifold stay with the bolt and nut.

Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

(b) Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the bolt.

Torque : 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

(c) Engage the harness clamp and connect the connector.

7. INSTALL MANIFOLD STAY

(a) Install the manifold stay with the bolt and nut.

Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

8. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression springs.





Minimum length:

41.7 mm (1.642 in.)

If the length is not as specified, replace the compression spring.

(b) Fully push a new gasket to the exhaust manifold.

NOTICE:
* Install the gasket in the correct direction.
* Do not reuse the gasket.
* Do not damage the gasket by dropping it, etc.
* Do not damage the outer surface of the gasket.

(c) Install a new gasket onto the front exhaust pipe assembly.

(d) Install the front exhaust pipe with the 2 compression springs and 4 bolts.





Bolt A - Torque : 48 Nm (489 kgf-cm, 35 ft-lbf)

Bolt B - Torque : 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf)

9. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

10. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

(a) Install the No. 1 engine under cover with the 2 bolts, 6 screws and 4 clips.





(b) Install the front wheel opening extension pad RH and front wheel opening extension pad LH with the 8 screws.

Screw A - Torque : 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf)
