DESCRIPTION

* The engine hood courtesy switch is built into the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is opened and turns off when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)

(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

Main Body





OK:

ON (engine hood is open) appears on screen.

NG -- INSPECT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Theft Deterrent System

2. INSPECT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)





(a) Remove the hood lock Removal.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH) Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH AND BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the J4 main body ECU connector.

(b) Disconnect the A29 engine hood courtesy switch connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
