SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

CAUTION:
* The nuts must not be reused.
* Make sure that the seat frame assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
(a) Install the front seat side airbag assembly with 2 new nuts.

Torque : 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)

(b) Attach the 2 clamps to connect the wire harness.

2. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD (for Manual Seat)

(a) Install the separate type front seatback cover with pad to the seat frame.

(b) Attach the 4 claws to install the 2 headrest supports.

(c) Install the seatback cover bracket to the seat frame with the nut.

Torque : 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
After the seatback trim cover is assembled, make sure the side airbag strap is not twisted.

(d) Close the 2 fasteners, and then close the seatback cover.





(e) Using hog ring pliers, install 3 new hog rings.

(f) Connect the airbag wire harness.

(g) Attach the fastening tape to close the cover.

(h) Attach the 3 airbag wire harness clamps.

(i) Attach the claw and connect the airbag connector.

(j) Install the rubber band to the seat cushion spring.

3. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD (for Power Seat)

(a) Install the separate type front seatback cover with pad.

(b) Attach the 4 claws to install the 2 headrest supports.

(c) Install the seatback cover bracket to the seat frame with the nut.

Torque : 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
After the seatback trim cover is assembled, make sure the side airbag strap is not twisted.

(d) Close the 2 fasteners, and then close the seatback cover.

(f) w/ Seat Heater System:

Connect the seat heater connector and attach the wire harness clamp.

(g) Connect the airbag wire harness.

(h) Attach the fastening tape to close the cover.

(i) Attach the 3 airbag wire harness clamps.

(j) Attach the claw and connect the airbag connector.

(k) Install the rubber band to the seat cushion spring.
