Removal





2GR-FE INTAKE: AIR CLEANER AND HOSE: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

(a) Remove the 11 clips and cool air intake duct seal.





2. REMOVE BATTERY

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

(a) Loosen the nut, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.





(b) Loosen the nut, and disconnect the positive battery terminal.

(c) Loosen the nut, and remove the bolt and battery clamp.

(d) Remove the battery and battery tray.

3. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET

(a) Disconnect the 2 vacuum switching valve clamps.





(b) Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 air cleaner inlet.

4. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

(a) Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses, and remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 air cleaner inlet.





5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 3 vacuum hoses.





(b) Loosen the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp.





(c) Disconnect the hose clamps and No. 2 ventilation hose.

(d) Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.

(e) Release the 2 clips, and remove the 2 bolts.





(f) Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and air cleaner filter element.

6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, disconnect the hose and the connector, and remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly.





7. REMOVE NO. 3 INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 3 intake air control valve assembly.





8. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE

(a) Loosen the bolt and remove the No. 1 air cleaner hose.





9. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR

(a) Loosen the bolt and remove the intake air resonator.
