DTC 4411

DTC 4411 (California)

1. Remove fuse #18 from the fuse panel.
2. With the ignition "OFF", disconnect the Digifant control unit harness connector. The Digifant control unit is located at the rear of the engine compartment. For these tests it may be easier to remove the control unit from its mount, this will allow better access to the harness connector pins.
3. Bridge terminals 1 and 24 of the Digifant control unit harness connector with suitable jumper wire.
4. Turn ignition switch "ON".

Digifant I 38 Pin Control Unit Connector:

5. Connect a suitable volt/ohm meter between terminal 1 and 20 of the Digifant control unit harness connector. Set the volt/ohm meter on the 20-volt scale.

^ The correct measurement should be battery voltage, (approx. 12 VDC).

Special Tools:

CAUTION: Avoid damaging the delicate connectors within the control unit harness connector. A simple set of test leads can be fabricated using flat connectors (part # VW N 17 457 2) or equivalent, and a pair of alligator clips.

6. Connect volt/ohm meter between terminal 1 and 21 of the Digifant control unit harness connector, volt/ohm meter on the 20-volt scale.

^ The correct measurement should be battery voltage, (approx. 12 VDC).

7. Connect volt/ohm meter between terminal 1 and 3 of the Digifant control unit harness connector, volt/ohm meter on the 20-volt scale.

^ The correct measurement should be battery voltage, (approx. 12 VDC).

8. Connect volt/ohm meter between terminal 1 and 2 of the Digifant control unit harness connector, volt/ohm meter on the 20-volt scale.

^ The correct measurement should be battery voltage, (approx. 12 VDC).

If the correct measurement is not obtained, repair or replace the harness as necessary.

If the correct measurement is obtained, refer to FUEL DELIVERY AND AIR INDUCTION/FUEL INJECTOR for fuel injector testing procedures. Fuel Injector
