Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (function 03)

The following components are checked in the sequence shown when using the Output Diagnostic Test Mode.
1 - Throttle Position Actuator (V60)
2 - Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) Relay (J81)
3 - EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)

Requirement
^ Throttle Position (TP) Sensor (G69) OK

- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) with adapter harness.
- Switch ignition ON.
- Operate the VAG 1551 Scan Tool while observing the display.
- Press PRINT button.
- Press button -1- for "Rapid data transfer" operating mode.
- Press buttons -0- and -1- to enter address word 01 for "Engine Electronics".
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Press => button.
- Press buttons -0- and -2- to select "Check DTC Memory" function.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Press buttons -0- and -5- to select "Erase DTC Memory" function.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Press => button.
- Press buttons -0- and -3- to select "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function.

- Indicated on display

If anything else appears in the display:
- Press => button until "Select function XX" appears.
- Press buttons -0- and -3- to select "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function.


To activate Throttle Position Actuator (V60):

First test:
- Press -Q- button to confirm input
^ Throttle Position Actuator plunger must move to rest position (fully pulled in)
- Indicated on display

Second test:
- Press =>button.
- Indicated on display

[Output diagnostic test mode => ]
[Throttle Position Actustor - V60 ]

^ Throttle Position Actuator plunger must move in and out until the next test in the DTM sequence is selected by pressing the => button

If Throttle Position Actuator does not move:
- Check V60 activation.


To activate Early Fuel Evaporation Relay (J81):

- Press => button.
- Indicated on display

^ Early Fuel Evaporation Relay (on fuse/relay panel in foot well on driver's side) must click until the next test in the DTM sequence is selected by pressing the => button

If the relay does not click:
- Check Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) Relay (J81)


To activate Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80):

- Press => button.
- Indicated on display

[EVAP canister Purge Regulator valve-N80 ]

^ EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) must click

If valve does not click:



- Disconnect EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) and connect US 1115 LED tester to harness connector using jumper wires from VW 1594 adapter kit.
- LED must flash

If YES:
- Replace EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80).

If NO:
- Perform electrical check, test step 3 Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters, replace Mono-Motronic Engine Control Module (J257) if necessary.

If valve clicks:
- Press => button
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
