Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (function 03)

Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) is used to check operation of "crash response system".

During airbag deployment, central locking system is set to "open" and engine is switched off.

NOTE:
- Before performing output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), set central locking system to "closed" by operating interior locking switch or locking button.
- Start engine.
- After output Diagnostic Test Mode has been performed, central locking operation only becomes active again after switching ignition off and on again.
- Fault read out device V.A.G 1551, connecting.
- Initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD). On Board Diagnosis (OBD) For Airbag, Initiating

Indicated on display:

- Press Q button to confirm input.

Signal central locking unlock

Engine switches off and central locking system must switch to "open".

- Press --> -button.

During test and assembly work, other control modules may recognize malfunctions like, for example, connector disconnected. DTC memory of all control modules must therefore be checked and erased when work has been completed. For this:

- Press button 0 twice to select "Automatic test sequence", address word 00. Press Q button to confirm input. Fault read out device V.A.G 1551 sends all known address words one after other.

When a control module responds with its identification, display indicates number of stored errors or indicates "no malfunction recognized".

DTCs stored in system are indicated in sequence and printed out. Then Fault read out device V.A.G 1551 sends next address word.

Automatic test sequence is ended when following indication appears on display:

VAG - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) HELP
1- Rapid data transfer

or

VAG - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) HELP
2- Blink code output

Appear alternately on display.

NOTE:
- If a malfunction was recognized:
- 1. Repair malfunction
- 2. Erase DTC memory (function 05)
- 3. Check DTC memory again (function 02)
