Exhaust Manifold Assembly Overview

• The components illustrated correspond to cylinder bank 1. They are a mirror image of the components for cylinder bank 2.





1 Cylinder head

2 Exhaust manifold

• Can only be replaced when engine is removed, refer to --> [ Engine, Removing ] Engine Removing.

3 Turbocharger intake temperature sensor, 45 Nm

• Only on vehicles with engine code BWF.

Cylinder bank 1:

• Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor 1 (G235).

Cylinder bank 2:

• Bank 2 EGT sensor 1 (G236).

4 To turbocharger

• --> [ (Item 5) Turbocharger ] Turbocharger Assembly Overview.

5 Spacer piece

6 23 Nm

• Replace

• Observe tightening sequence, refer to --> [ Tightening Sequence of Nuts for Exhaust Manifold ]

7 4.5 Nm

8 Heat shield

9 To connecting pipe

• Vehicles with engine code BKW --> [ (Item 12) Connecting pipe ] Removal and Replacement.

• Vehicles with engine code BWF --> [ (Item 11) Connecting pipe ] Removal and Replacement.

10 Gasket

• Replace.

• Note installation position.

Tightening Sequence of Nuts for Exhaust Manifold





- Tighten nuts in the sequence shown as follows:

• Pre-tighten all nuts to 5 Nm

• Then tighten all nuts to 23 Nm
