Basic Setting Of EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve (vehicles With Engine Code BEW)

NOTE: If EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve -N18- with Potentiometer for EGR -G212- was replaced, basic setting must be performed.

Requirements







- The respective fuses of Diesel-Direct fuel injection system must be OK
- Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 volts.
- All electrical consumers such as, lights and rear window defroster must be switched off.
- For vehicles with automatic transmission, selector lever must be in -P- or -N-.
- If vehicle is equipped with an A/C system, it must be switched off.
- Ground (GND) connections between engine and chassis must be OK.
- No DTCs in DTC memory, Diagnostic mode 3: Check DTC memory. Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
- The coolant temperature must be at least 20 degrees C, Check measured values; PID 05, Coolant temperature. Ignition is switched off. Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values

Work sequence
- Switch ignition on and off again.
- Then wait one minute of control modules after-run (valve learns, main relay must click during this).
- Start engine and let run at idle for at least one minute.
- Check DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM), there must be no DTCs in DTC memory, Diagnostic mode 3: Check DTC memory. Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
- If a DTC is stored in DTC memory, erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
- Repeat work sequence.
- Generate readiness code. Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
