Shift Knob, Boot and Noise Insulation
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)
Removing
- Pull the boot upward out of the center console frame or carefully pry out at the rear location - arrows -.
On some vehicles, you must pry the boot out at the front area.
- Roll the boot up over the shift knob.
- Open the clamp - arrow - and remove the shift knob and boot.
In some vehicles, the center console frame remains in the center console.
- Carefully pull or pry out - arrow 1 - the center console frame.
- Remove the noise insulation - arrow 2 -.
Installing
- Install the noise insulation.
Noise Insulation, Installed Position:
The arrow - A - is pointing in driving direction.
The notches - B arrows - must engage in the center console.
- Press the frame into the center console.
- Turn the inner side of the boot toward the outside.
The shift knob must be pressed on as far as the stop.
- Install the shift knob and boot and squeeze the new clamp together - arrow -.
- Press the boot into the frame in the center console.
