Transmission, Installing

- Make sure alignment sleeves - A - for centering engine/transmission are installed in cylinder block. Install if necessary.





Transmission Support (3282) is attached to Adjustment Plate (3282/42 A) for installing Direct Shift Automatic Transmission 02E.

- Place Adjustment Plate (3282/42 A) on to transmission support and align arms of transmission support corresponding to holes in adjustment plate.





Arrow symbol - B - points in direction of travel.

- Install attachments - A - and - C - (pin (3282/29)), as depicted on adjustment plate.

- Attach transmission to engine/transmission jack.

- Align adjustment plate parallel to transmission.

- Now, install pin (3282/29) into transmission.





- Secure transmission on Transmission Support ( 3282) using bolt - arrow -.

- Set transmission jack under vehicle.

- Carefully lift transmission and bring into installation position using Transmission Support (3282).

- Insert transmission, make sure lines are not pinched when doing this.

- Install all engine/transmission connecting bolts - 1 to 6 - and tighten to specification.





Make sure especially that bolt - arrow B - is installed.





- Connect Ground (GND) cable - arrow A -.

- Install subframe mount as follows:

- Install transmission plate - 1 - with new hex bolts - arrows - on to transmission and tighten to specification.





- Carefully pull up transmission to transmission mount via engine support bridge spindles.

CAUTION!
Before installing transmission mount/transmission plate bolts, transmission mount and transmission plate must stand absolutely parallel to each other, otherwise the thread will be damaged.

- Install new hex bolts - arrows B - of left subframe mount and tighten to specification.





- Install hydraulic line - 1 - - arrow A -.

CAUTION!
Only remove engine support bridge (10 - 222 A) when all bolts for subframe mount are tightened to tightening torque.

- Install selector cable on transmission, to do so install bolts - A - for mounting bracket.





- Do not bend selector lever cable.

- Install locking washer - arrow -.

- Connect all lines and bracket on to transmission oil pan.

- Install subframe.

- Install pendulum support - 1 - and tighten bolts - arrows - to specification.





- Install drive axles on to flange shafts.

- Install coupling rod and ball joint.

- Install starter.

- Install protective plate - 1 - at bottom on transmission, tighten bolts - arrows - to 32 Nm.





- Install bracket for front exhaust pipe at subframe - arrows -.





- Assembly exhaust system and align free of tension.

- Install center and left sections of noise insulation below engine/transmission.

- Connect central connector of Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) Mechatronic (J743) and engage lock by rotating.

- Connect hoses of transmission oil cooler and secure using clamps.

- Install battery console and battery.

- Install power steering refill tank on battery console, do not kink hoses while doing this.

- Install complete air filter housing.

- Connect battery and observe safety precautions after connecting battery.
