• Adapter (10 - 222 A /8)
• Shackle (10 - 222 A /12)
• Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm dia. (3094)
• Transmission Support (3282)
• Adjustment Plate (3282/42 A)
• Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)
• Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)
• Engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A )
• All cable ties opened or cut during transmission removal must be reinstalled at the same locations.
- Place selector lever in position "P".
- Remove engine cover.
- First determine whether a coded radio is installed. In this case, determine anti-theft coding.
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable with ignition switched off.
- Remove power steering refill tank from battery console, do not kink hoses while doing this.
- Connect refill tank to lock carrier.
- Remove battery.
- Disconnect intake hose - 1 - and connector - 2 - from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- Remove bolts - 3 - and - 4 -.
- Remove air filter completely.
- Remove starter.
- Remove nut - arrow A - and disconnect Ground (GND) cable.
- Remove bolt - arrow B -.
Bolt - arrow B - is located in a recess next to pass-through for starter to flywheel.
- Clamp off hoses of transmission oil cooler using Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm dia. (3094).
- Open clamps - 1 - and disconnect hoses from transmission oil cooler.
- Plug transmission oil cooler with clean plug.
- Remove upper connecting bolts for engine/transmission.
- Disconnect central connector - 1 -, to do so, turn lever - arrow - in direction of - arrow - and pull off connector.
- Insert Engine support bridge (10 - 222 A) with adapters (10 - 222 A /8).
- Do not place adapter (10 - 222 A /8) on to mounting bolts for fender/front section.
- If hose and cable connections are found in area of engine lifting eyes for engine support bridge (10 - 222 A), they must be removed now.
- If necessary, secure hook of left spindle (on transmission side) via a shackle (10 - 222 A /12) on engine lifting eyelet.
- Take up weight of engine/transmission assembly on spindles.
- Remove both front wheels.
- Remove center and left sections of noise insulation below engine/transmission.
- Remove protective plate - 1 - at bottom on transmission - arrows -.
- Disconnect all lines and bracket from transmission oil pan.
- Remove selector cable from transmission, to do so remove bolts - A - for mounting bracket.
- Remove locking washer - arrow - and pull off selector cable from lever/selector shaft.
- Do not bend selector lever cable.
- Remove pendulum support - 1 - - arrows -
- If installed, remove protective cap for inner right constant velocity joint from engine.
- Disconnect drive axles from transmission drive flanges.
- Bring right drive axle upward and secure, do not damage protective coating when doing this.
- Steering turned toward left.
- Mark installation position of ball joint bolts - arrows - on left control arm.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Disengage left coupling rod - 1 - from control arm and rotate coupling rod upward.
- Swing out wheel bearing housing.
- Guide out left drive axle - 2 - between subframe and transmission.
- Bring drive axle upward and secure to suspension strut with wire, do not damage protective coating when doing this.
- Remove bracket for front exhaust pipe at subframe - arrows - and disengage.
- Disconnect exhaust system behind front exhaust pipe.
- Tie up exhaust system.
• Flex joint of exhaust system must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Remove subframe.
- Disconnect hydraulic line - 1 - from transmission plate - arrow A -.
- Remove bolts - arrows B -.
- Carefully bring engine with transmission into tilt position. To do so, screw down left spindle (on transmission side) on engine support bridge (10 - 222 A) approx. 100 mm.
- Remove transmission plate - 1 - - arrows -.
Transmission Support (3282) is attached to Adjustment Plate (3282/42 A) for removing Direct Shift Automatic Transmission 02E.
- Place Adjustment Plate (3282/42 A) on to transmission support and align arms of transmission support corresponding to holes in adjustment plate.
Arrow symbol - B - points in direction of travel.
- Install attachments - A - and - C - (pin (3282/29)), as depicted on adjustment plate.
- Set transmission jack under vehicle.
- Align adjustment plate parallel to transmission.
