Muffler and Mountings Assembly Overview
1 Suspended mount
• Right, in driving direction.
2 Particle filter
• Right, in driving direction --> [ (Item 11) Particle filter ] Service and Repair.
3 Double clamp
• Right, in driving direction.
M8 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.
M10 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.
4 Particle filter
• Left, in driving direction --> [ (Item 11) Particle filter ] Service and Repair.
5 Double clamp
• Left, in driving direction.
M8 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.
M10 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.
6 25 Nm
7 Suspended mount
• Left, in driving direction.
8 Repair double clamp
• Left, in driving direction.
M8 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.
M10 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.
9 Rear muffler
10 Suspended mount
• Left, in driving direction.
11 End pipe
• Left, in driving direction.
• Align in bumper cutout.
12 Dimension - a - = approximately 10 mm
• Exhaust system must be cold.
• Arrow points in direction of travel.
13 Clamp
• Tighten to 60 Nm..
• Note installation position.
14 Dimension - a - = approximately 4 mm
• Exhaust system must be cold.
• Arrow points in direction of travel.
15 End pipe
• Right, in driving direction.
• Align in bumper cutout.
16 Repair double clamp
• Double clamp viewed in direction of travel.
• Note installation position.

19 Suspended mount

• Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.
M10 threads:
• Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.
21 Separating point
• For repairs.
• marked by two grooves around the circumference of the respective exhaust pipe.
• At factory, exhaust pipe and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. Replacement exhaust pipe and rear muffler are supplied separately, with replacement double clamp for connecting joint.
• Cut through exhaust pipes with body repair saw (VAG 1523A) at right angles at separating point.
