Muffler and Mountings Assembly Overview





1 Suspended mount

Right, in driving direction.

2 Particle filter

Right, in driving direction --> [ (Item 11) Particle filter ] Service and Repair.

3 Double clamp

Right, in driving direction.

M8 threads:

Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.

M10 threads:

Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.

4 Particle filter

Left, in driving direction --> [ (Item 11) Particle filter ] Service and Repair.

5 Double clamp

Left, in driving direction.

M8 threads:

Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.

M10 threads:

Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.

6 25 Nm

7 Suspended mount

Left, in driving direction.

8 Repair double clamp

M8 threads:

Fasten evenly to 25 Nm.

M10 threads:

Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.

9 Rear muffler

11 End pipe

Align in bumper cutout.

12 Dimension - a - = approximately 10 mm

Exhaust system must be cold.

Arrow points in direction of travel.

13 Clamp

Tighten to 60 Nm..

Note installation position.

14 Dimension - a - = approximately 4 mm

Exhaust system must be cold.

15 End pipe

Right, in driving direction.

Align in bumper cutout.

16 Repair double clamp

Fasten evenly to 40 Nm.

21 Separating point

For repairs.

marked by two grooves around the circumference of the respective exhaust pipe.

At factory, exhaust pipe and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. Replacement exhaust pipe and rear muffler are supplied separately, with replacement double clamp for connecting joint.

Cut through exhaust pipes with body repair saw (VAG 1523A) at right angles at separating point.
