Vibration Damper

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Counter-Holder Tool (T10069)

Two Arm Puller (T10040)

The two arm puller is only necessary for tight fitting vibration dampers.

Removing

- Remove the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Lock the vibration damper using (T10069).





- Loosen the vibration damper bolt and unscrew it approximately 10 mm.

- If the vibration damper is loose, completely remove the bolt and remove the vibration damper.

- If the vibration damper cannot be removed, use (T10040) to remove it.





Installing

CAUTION!
Check the rubber connection between the inner ring and the outer ring of the vibration damper for cracks and flaking. If the rubber connection is damaged, the vibration damper must be replaced.

- Clean the threads in the crankshaft with a M18 x 1.5 tap.

- Install new vibration damper bolt.

- Lock the vibration damper using (T10069).





- Tighten the new bolt using (V.A.G 1601).

Tightening specification: 100 Nm + 180° (1/2) additional turn.

Turning the additional 180° may be performed in several stages.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.
