Wiper Arms
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331/)
• Puller (T10369)
Removing:
- Pry off cover caps - arrows - using a suitable screwdriver.
- Slide the arms of the (T10369/1) - 2 - under the wiper arm - 4 - as shown in the illustration.
CAUTION!
The windshield wiper shaft can be damaged.
Always use the thrust piece - 3 - to loosen the wiper arm.
- Turn the pressure bolt - 1 - on the puller clockwise until the thrust piece - 3 - makes contact with the wiper shaft. Using a 6 mm socket head wrench, rotate the pressure bolt - 1 - on the puller clockwise until the wiper arm - 4 - is released from the shaft.
- Remove the puller and the wiper arm.
- If necessary, repeat this procedure on the front passenger's side.
Installing:
• Mounting nuts of wiper arms - arrows - are to be tightened to tightening specification only after end position of windshield wiper blades has been set.
- Drive wiper motor into the end position.
- To do so, switch ignition on and briefly press the steering column stalk down once (one-touch wiping).
- After wiper motor stops completely, switch ignition off again.
- Insert wiper arms on the wiper arm shafts in the approximate end positions and screw on the nuts - arrows - hand-tight.
