Cylinder Head Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6340)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

To perform this procedure, the Ground cable must be disconnected from the battery. If a coded radio is installed, obtain the anti-theft code beforehand.

- With the ignition turned off, disconnect the battery ground (GND) cable.

- All cable ties which are opened or cut open when removing, must be replaced in the same position when installing.

- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.

- Remove the wiring guide => [ (Item 1) Wiring Guide ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the fuel line bracket => [ (Item 2) Bracket ] Cylinder Head and Cover Overview.

- Remove the cylinder head cover.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Tighten all bolts by hand and then to specification in a diagonal sequence.

- Install the intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.

Replace cylinder head cover and/or seal if damaged or leaking.

First install the intake manifold to the cylinder head. Then, install the bolts for the shield and intake manifold support.

Ensure the fuel line is securely seated in the retainers.
