Fuel Tank and Components Overview
1 Fuel Line
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
2 Cap
• Replace if damaged.
3 Bolt
4 Fuel Filler Door Unit
• With a rubber gasket.
5 Vent Line
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
6 Vacuum Line
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
7 Ground Connection
• To the protective plate for the fuel filler tube.
• Ensure the connection is securely seated.
8 Ground Connection
• Ensure the connection is securely seated.
• Check for good contact to the body.
9 Clamps
10 Fuel Tank
• Support using engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A) when removing.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel System Components.
11 Securing Straps
12 Heat Shield
13 Lock Washer
14 Bolt
• 25 Nm
• Replace
• Only use bolts with loose washer when installing the fuel tank straps. If other bolts are used, the straps could twist when the bolts are tightened.
15 Seal
• Replace
• To install, place into the fuel tank opening dry.
• Lubricate with fuel only when installing the flange.
16 Fuel Delivery Unit
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel System Components.
If the fuel delivery unit was replaced, adapt the Engine Control Module (ECM) to the fuel pump. Refer to "Guided Functions" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Fuel pump, checking. Refer to => [ Fuel Pump, Checking ] Fuel Pump, Checking.
• With the fuel level sensor (G).
• Fuel level sensor, removing and installing. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor ] Fuel System Components.
• Clean the strainer if contaminated.
17 Bolt
• 8 Nm
18 Protective Plate
• For the fuel filler tube.
19 Suction Jet Pump
20 Flange with Fuel Filter
• With pressure relief valve 6.2 bar
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel System Components.
21 Locking Ring
• 110 Nm
• Ensure the locking ring is securely seated.
• Use wrench (T10202) for removal and installation.
