Windshield and Headlamp Washer Fluid Reservoir Upper Section

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Removing:

- Switch ignition and all electrical consumers off and disengage the key or ignition switch in position 0 (ignition off).

- Remove front bumper cover.

- Remove right front wheel housing liner.

- Remove the right headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Bring the lock carrier into service position. Radiator Support

- Remove bolts of fuel filter bracket and set it aside with lines connected.

- Unclip all lines from the reservoir upper section - 4 -.





- Remove the mounting bolts - 1 -, - 2 - and - 3 -.

To access the mounting bolt - 2 -, it may be necessary depending on equipment to loosen the line bracket of the pipes routed above it.

- Remove the mounting bolt - 7 - from wheel housing.

- Remove the reservoir upper section - 4 - vertically from the rubber grommet - 6 - on the reservoir lower section - 5 -.

- Remove the reservoir upper section from the vehicle.

Installing:

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Install the reservoir upper section - 4 - vertically into the rubber grommet - 6 - in the reservoir lower section.





For joining the two halves of the tank, coat the rubber grommet - 6 - if necessary with lubricant suitable for rubber and plastic (e.g. polyethylene glycol).

When installing upper washer fluid reservoir, ensure all hoses are routed without being pinched or kinked, and that they are clipped into the corresponding locations on the reservoir.

- Tighten all threaded connections to the specification shown in => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications, Windshield Wiper and Washer System ] Fastener Tightening Specifications, Windshield Wiper and Washer System.

- Bleed headlamp washer system after completing assembly work, refer to => [ Headlamp Washer System, Bleeding ] Headlamp Washer System, Bleeding.
