Removal and Replacement
Selector Lever Cable
• After installation, cable must be checked for ease of movement and must be adjusted.
Removing
- Place selector lever in "S".
- Pry off cable - 1 - from lever - 3 - using an open-end wrench - 2 -.
- Press together catches - arrows - and remove cable from bracket.
- Raise vehicle.
In order to remove cable and/or selector mechanism, heat shield and if necessary exhaust system components must now be removed.
- Remove heat shield.
- Remove - shift mechanism housing - beneath selector lever.
In order to remove cable, - pin - must be pressed upward using a screwdriver.
- Simultaneously, press securing tab, which secures the - pin -, toward front - arrows -.
- Remove locking washer. Always replace locking washer.
- Remove selector lever cable.
Installing
- Loosen cable adjustment screw.
Do not grease cable.
- Route selector lever cable free of tension, also insert into bracket at transmission but do not secure yet.
- Also clip cable in retainer. Make sure that retainer does not make contact with oil cooler.
- Nuts - 8 Nm
- Secure cable with pin to selector lever and secure to bracket of shift mechanism using new locking washer.
- Install shift mechanism housing, heat shield and exhaust system.
- After installation, check cable => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
