Fuel Delivery Unit, Fuel Level Sensor and Suction Jet Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

Wrench (T10202)

Requirements:

The fuel tank must be drained. Refer to => [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] Procedures.

Connectors and lines for the left and right sensor flanges have been disconnected.

Locking rings for the left and right sensor flanges have been removed.

Removing

- Read the safety precautions before beginning work. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Fuel Supply.

- Disconnect the harness connectors - 1 and 2 -, as well as hose couplings - 3, 4 and 5 - below the right sensor flange.






Press in the securing ring to disengage the fuel lines.

- Remove the sensor flange.

- Unclip the black fill hose - arrow - from the fuel delivery unit housing on the left and right sides of the fuel tank.






- Disconnect the suction jet pumps fuel supply line - arrow - from the fuel delivery unit on the left and right sides of the fuel tank.






- Disconnect the supply and return lines between both the fuel delivery units on the left side of the fuel tank.

- Remove the fuel delivery unit from the bottom of the fuel tank by turning it approximately 90° to the left.

The fuel delivery unit housing is filled with fuel. Fuel may run out if the housing is tipped or tilted.

- Unclip the fuel level sensors on both sides of fuel tank and pull them out.

- Unclip the suction jet pumps from the bottom on each side and remove them with a slight turn.

- Pull out the hose ends through the left and right sensor openings.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Connections for fuel lines must engage audibly when joined.

Route the fuel hoses free of kinks.

Make sure the fuel hoses are secure.
