• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• Old oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782)

Oil pump, removing

Description

Oil pump can be replaced without removing transmission. Vehicle must be raised and any covers installed on bottom of front end must be removed. Control arm to suspension strut connection does not need to be separated. Drive axle also does not have to be removed. No "basic calibration" is needed. Only DSG oil and pump cover must be replaced.

- Remove noise insulation

- Remove lower part of left front wheel housing liner

- Place used oil collection and extraction device (V.A.G 1782) under transmission.

- Remove bolt - A - near pendulum support.





Up to transmission production date September 20, 2004, transmissions with two bolts were installed.

A plastic overflow tube is located in this hole (with 8 mm hex socket head, torque specification: 3 Nm). Its length determines the oil level in the transmission.

- Remove oil tube.

- Drain oil.

- Hand-tighten overflow tube to 3 Nm.

- Replace seal - arrow -.





- Used oil collection and extraction device (V.A.G 1782) remains below transmission.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove oil pump cover - A -.





Oil is still in oil pump cover.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove oil pump - 1 - from alignment pin and oil pump driveshaft.





Oil pump, installing

- Slide oil pump driveshaft - A - into transmission to stop while turning driveshaft slightly.





- Replace oil pump gasket - B - on transmission.

• The 2 alignment pins - C - must be located in transmission housing.

- Slide oil pump - 1 - onto driveshaft while paying attention to oil pump/driveshaft splines.





- Pay attention to correct positioning of oil pump - 1 - on transmission housing alignment pins.

- Install new bolts - arrows - hand-tight and then tighten to 5 Nm plus an additional 90° (1/4 turn) in diagonal sequence.

- Set new oil pump cover - A - in place and tighten new bolts - arrows - in diagonal sequence and in multiple stages to 8 Nm.





Transmission does not have oil. Add new oil and adjust to correct oil level.

- Change DSG oil and filter --> [ Transmission, Changing Oil, Filter and Adjusting Oil Level ] Transmission, Changing Oil, Filter and Adjusting Oil Level.

- Install left front wheel housing liner

- Install noise insulation
