Selector Mechanism Overview

CAUTION!
Shift the selector lever into the "P" position and engage the parking brake before working with the engine running.





1 Shift Handle with Cover

• Handle, removing and installing. Refer to => [ Selector Handle with Cover ] Selector Handle With Cover.

• Manual release, refer to => [ Selector Lever Manual Release ] Procedures.

• Before removing, pull the button out beyond its pressure point and secure it with tape. This prevents the button from being pushed into the handle accidentally.

• If the button is pushed in when the handle is removed:

- Just before installing, pull out the button beyond the pressure point (sense this by touch).

2 Selector Mechanism with Lever

• Passat and CC, removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Mechanism with Lever ] Passat and CC Specific Components.


3 Bolt with Spring

• 3 Nm

4 Pin

• Do not grease.

5 Securing Plate

• Always replace after removal

6 Nut

• 9 Nm

• Quantity: 4

7 Selector Housing

• With seal

8 Selector Lever Cable

• Do not grease the cable.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable ] Passat and CC Specific Components.

• Checking, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

• Adjusting, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

9 Bolt with Washer

• 8 Nm

• Quantity: 4
