B10EC

B10EC - Blower Motor Control Circuit Overcurrent

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

When Monitored: With the ignition ON.

Set Condition: The totally integrated power module will set this DTC if it detects an overcurrent condition on the blower motor supply circuit when blower motor operation is requested.

Test Step 1 - Test for an Active or Stored DTC B10E9

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, read TIPM DTCs.

Does the scan tool display B10E9 Blower Motor Control Circuit Low?

Yes

Diagnose and repair DTC B10E9 before attempting to diagnose this DTC. Refer to the table of contents in the HVAC section for a complete list of HVAC DTCs.

No

Go to Test Step 2.

Test Step 2 - Inspect the TIPM and Blower Motor Connector Terminals and Wire Harness for a Condition Causing High Circuit Resistance

Turn the ignition OFF.

Disconnect the TIPM harness connector.

Disconnect the blower motor harness connector.

Inspect the connector terminals for signs of corrosion build up or damaged terminals.

Visually inspect the wiring harness for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires hidden in the wire insulation.

Were any of the conditions found?

Yes

Repair as necessary.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 3.

Test Step 3 - Test the Blower Motor Supply Circuit Function

Connect one end of a jumper wire to the blower motor supply circuit in the blower motor harness connector and connect the other end of the jumper wire to a clean chassis ground.

The test lamp should illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Using a test lamp connected to 12 volts, probe the blower motor supply circuit in the TIPM harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate brightly?

Yes

Go to Test Step 4.

No

Repair the supply circuit.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 4 - Test the Output from the TIPM on the Blower Motor Supply Circuit

Reconnect the TIPM harness connector.

Turn the ignition ON.

With a scan tool in TIPM, select actuators, and actuate the blower motor.

Using the test lamp connected to ground, probe the blower motor supply circuit in the blower motor harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate brightly?

Yes

Go to Test Step 5.

No

Replace the TIPM.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 5 - Test the Ground Circuit for High Resistance

The test lamp should illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Using a test lamp connected to 12 volts, probe the ground circuit in the A/C heater control 32 - way harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate brightly?

Yes

Replace the A/C heater control.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Repair the ground circuit.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
