B1634 - Left High Beam Control Circuit High






For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

When Monitored: Continuously.

Set Condition: When the totally integrated power module detects a high condition.






Test Step 1 - Intermittent Condition

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.

Turn the high beam lamps ON.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display B1634 - Left High Beam Control Circuit HIGH?

Yes

Go to Test Step 2.

No

The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Test for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 2 - Test Left Headlamp Return Signal

Turn the ignition OFF.

Disconnect the left high beam lamp harness connector.

With a test lamp connected to 12 volts, probe the left headlamp return signal circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate brightly on each ground circuit?

Yes

Go to Test Step 4.

No

Go to Test Step 3.

Test Step 3 - Left Headlamp Return Signal

Measure the resistance of the left headlamp return signal circuit at the left high beam harness connector.

Is the resistance less than 10.0 ohms?

Yes

Replace the inoperative bulb. .

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Repair the left headlamp return signal circuit for an open.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 4 - Test Left High Beam Control Circuit

Turn the ignition ON.

With a test lamp connected to ground, test the left high beam control circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate brightly with the headlamps switch turned ON, and shut OFF with the headlamps turned OFF?

Yes

Replace the inoperative bulb. .

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 5.

Test Step 5 - Left High Beam Control Circuit Open

Turn the ignition OFF.

Disconnect the TIPM harness connector.

Measure the resistance of the left high beam control circuit between the left headlamp harness connector and the TIPM harness connector.

Is the resistance less than 10.0 ohms?

Yes

Go to Test Step 6.

No

Repair the left high beam control circuit for an open.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 6 - Left High Beam Control Circuit Short To Voltage

Turn the ignition ON.

Measure for voltage on the left high beam control circuit.

Is there any voltage Present?

Yes

Repair the circuit for a short to voltage.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Replace the totally integrated power module.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
