B1673 - Driver Courtesy Lamp Control Circuit Low

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

When Monitored: Whenever the module is awake and the courtesy lamps are on.

Set Condition: When the Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit falls below 3.0 volts for over 1450 ms. and the above conditions are met, this code will set.






Test Step 1 - TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION

Turn the ignition on.

With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.

Turn the courtesy lamps on.

Wait 30 seconds.

With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B1673-DRIVER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

Yes

Go to Test Step 2

No

Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 2 - DRIVER DOOR COURTESY LAMP SHORTED







With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.

Turn the ignition off.

Remove the inner door panel trim..

Ensure the Driver Door Courtesy Lamp connector is disconnected.

Turn the ignition on.

Ensure the courtesy lamps are on.

Wait one minute.

With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

When the Door Courtesy Lamp connector is disconnected, The DTC: B1674-DRIVER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH will display as Active. This is normal.

Does the scan tool display: B1673-DRIVER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW as Active?

No

Replace the Courtesy Lamp.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Yes

Go to Test Step 3

Test Step 3 - (M43) DRIVER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND







Turn the ignition off.

Turn the courtesy lamps off.

Disconnect the Driver Door Module C5 connector.

Measure the resistance between Ground and the (M43) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit in the DDM C5 connector.

Is the resistance below 10,000 ohms?

Yes

Repair the (M43) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit for a short to ground.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 4

Test Step 4 - (M43) DRIVER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO THE (P114) AUTO DAY/NIGHT MIRROR (-) CIRCUIT







Measure the resistance between the (M43) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit and the (G920) Memory Select Switch Return circuit in the DDM C5 connector.

Is the resistance below 10,000 ohms?

Yes

Repair the (M43) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit for a short to the (G920) Memory Select Switch Return circuit.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 5

Test Step 5 - (M43) DRIVER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO THE (G920) MEMORY SELECT SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT







Measure the resistance between the (M43) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit and the (G920) Memory Select Switch Return circuit in the DDM C5 connector.

Is the resistance below 10,000 ohms?

Yes

Repair the (M43) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit for a short to the (G920) Memory Select Switch Return circuit.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Replace the Driver Door Module.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
