B16F9 - Front Left Fog Lamp Control Circuit High

• When Monitored: Continuously.
• Set Condition: When the totally integrated power module detects a high condition.
Test Step 1 - Intermittent Condition
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
• Turn the front fog lamps ON.
• With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B16F9 - Front Left Fog Lamp Control Circuit High?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 2.
No
• The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Test for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 2 - Test Ground Circuits
• Disconnect the front left fog lamp harness connector.
• With a test lamp connected to 12 volts, probe each ground circuit.
Does the test lamp illuminate brightly on each ground circuit?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 4.
No
• Go to Test Step 3.
Test Step 3 - Ground Circuit Open
• Measure the resistance of the appropriate ground circuits at the front left fog lamp harness connector.
Is the resistance less than 10.0 ohms?
Yes
• Replace the inoperative bulb. .
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
No
• Repair the appropriate ground circuits for an open.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 4 - Test Front Left Fog Lamp Control Circuit
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With a test lamp connected to ground, test the front left fog lamp control circuit.
Does the test lamp illuminate brightly with the fog lamp switch turned ON, and shut OFF with the fog lamps turned OFF?
Yes
• Replace the inoperative bulb. .
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
No
• Go to Test Step 5.
Test Step 5 - Front Left Fog Lamp Control Circuit Open
• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Disconnect the TIPM C harness connector.
• Measure the resistance between the front left fog lamp control circuit and the front left fog lamp harness connector to the TIPM connector.
Is the resistance less than 10.0 ohms?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 6.
No
• Repair the front left fog lamp control circuit for an open.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 6 - Front Left Fog Lamp Control Circuit Short to Voltage
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Measure the voltage of the front left fog lamp control circuit.
Is there any voltage Present?
Yes
• Repair the circuit for a short to voltage.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
No
• Replace the totally integrated power module.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
