B1888
B1888 - Power Liftgate Pinch Sensor 1 Circuit Low
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to
• When Monitored: Whenever the power liftgate module is awake.
• Set Condition: The power liftgate module has detected the left liftgate pinch sensor circuit voltage is under 0.5 volts for over 20 seconds.
Test Step 1 - DTC Present
• With the scan tool, record DTCs and any liftgate inhibitors.
• Erase DTCs.
• Turn the ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition ON.
• Operate the liftgate several times.
• With the scan tool, check for DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1888 - Power Liftgate Pinch Sensor 1 Circuit Low?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 2
No
• Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 2 - Left Pinch Sensor Short
• Disconnect the left liftgate pinch sensor harness connector.
• Erase DTCs.
• Turn the ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, check for DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1888 - Power Liftgate Pinch Sensor 1 Circuit Low?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 3
No
• Replace the left liftgate pinch sensor.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 3 - Check the Left Pinch Sensor Signal for a Short to Ground
• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Disconnect the power liftgate module C2 harness connector.
• Measure the resistance between ground and the left pinch sensor signal harness circuit.
Is the resistance less than 10k ohms?
No
• Replace the power liftgate module.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Yes
• Repair the left pinch sensor signal circuit for a short to ground.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
