B18E4 - Power Liftgate Front Zone Switch Circuit High

When Monitored: Whenever the power liftgate module is awake.

Set Condition: When the power liftgate module senses a voltage over 5.1 volts on the liftgate switch sense circuit for longer than 10 seconds, this code will set.






Test Step 1 - DTC PRESENT

With the scan tool, record DTCs.

Erase DTCs.

Turn the ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition ON.

Operate the liftgate several times from the switch bank.

With the scan tool, check for DTCs.

Does the scan tool display B18E4 - Power Liftgate Front Zone Switch Circuit High?

Yes

Go to Test Step 2

No

Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 2 - Liftgate Release Switch Short






Disconnect the switch bank 2 harness connector.

Erase DTCs.

Turn the ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, check for DTCs.

Does the scan tool display B18E4 - Power Liftgate Front Zone Switch Circuit High?

Yes

Go to Test Step 3

No

Replace the switch bank assembly.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 3 - Liftgate Switch Sense Circuit Short to Voltage






Disconnect the power liftgate module C2 harness connector.

Measure the voltage between ground and the liftgate switch sense circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

No

Go to Test Step 4

Yes

Repair the liftgate switch sense circuit for a short to voltage.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Test Step 4 - Liftgate Switch Sense Circuit Open






Turn the ignition OFF.

Measure the resistance of the liftgate switch sense circuit between the switch connector and the power liftgate C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance less than 2.0 ohms?

No

Repair the liftgate switch sense circuit for an open.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Yes

Replace the power liftgate module.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
