Seat Cushion Side Shield, Outboard

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim Removal Wedge (RMCP101)


Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

Removing






- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, if equipped with power seats.

- Using trim removal wedge (RMCP101) , disengage the tabs securing the top of the plastic insert (3) to the outboard seat cushion shield (1).

- Disengage the tabs securing the insert to the side of the seat cushion side shield by sliding the insert straight upward.

- Disengage the seat belt (2) from the insert and remove the insert.






- Remove the bolt (4) securing the seat belt (2) to the seat and position the seat belt out of the way.

- Remove the screws (3) securing the rear of the seat cushion side shield (1) to the seat.

- Disengage the tabs securing the center of the seat cushion side shield to the seat by carefully pulling the center of the shield straight out from the side of the seat.

- Disengage the tabs securing the front of the seat cushion side shield to the seat by simultaneously sliding the side shield upward and forward.

- Remove the seat cushion side shield. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the power seat switch (5), if equipped with power seats.

Installing






- Position the seat cushion side shield (1) to the seat. Connect the wire harness connector to the power seat switch (5), if equipped with power seats.

- Engage the tabs securing the front of the seat cushion side shield to the seat by simultaneously sliding the side shield rearward and down.

- Engage the tabs securing the center of the seat cushion side shield to the seat by pushing the center of the shield straight into the side of the seat.

- Install the screws (3) securing the rear of the seat cushion side shield to the seat.

- Position the seat belt (2) to the seat and install the bolt (4). Tighten the bolt to 48 Nm (35 ft lbs).






- Install the seat belt (2) through the insert (3) and position the insert to the seat.

- Engage the tabs securing the insert to the seat cushion side shield (1) by sliding the insert straight down. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged to the side shield.

- Connect the negative battery cable, if equipped with power seats..
