Cooling System Draining and Filling
Cooling System Draining and Filling
Draining
DO NOT remove or loosen the radiator pressure cap, cylinder block drain plugs, or the petcock when the cooling system is hot and under pressure because serious burns from the coolant can occur.
- Without removing the radiator pressure cap and with the system not under pressure , open the petcock (2) using a screwdriver. The petcock is located on the lower left side of the radiator.
- After the coolant recovery reservoir is empty, then remove the radiator pressure cap.
- Remove the cylinder block drain plugs.
Filling
Remove the radiator pressure cap and fill the system, use a 50/50 mixture of the appropriate coolant and distilled water.
Continue filling the cooling system until full. Do not spill the coolant on the drive belt or the generator. For cooling system capacity.
Fill the coolant recovery reservoir to at least the MAX mark. It may be necessary to add coolant to the reservoir after three or four warm up/cool down cycles in order to maintain the coolant level between the MAX and MIN mark. This will allow trapped air to be removed from the cooling system.
