Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Through 06.04

Through 06.04

Through 06.04, the central locking and anti-theft alarm system antenna is integrated in the wiring harness to the headlamps under the right front fender.

It is not possible to repair the antenna, since this would impair the reception quality.

If damaged, it is necessary to replace the central locking and anti-theft alarm system antenna.

The new antenna is not placed in the original location but is routed in another location in the center of the instrument panel instead.

Removal

- Loosen the antenna wire contact from the connector housing on the Access/start authorization control module (J518).

Installation

- Secure the contact on the new antenna in the same location in the connector housing.

- Remove the storage compartment in the center of the instrument panel.

- Route the new antenna wire from the connector housing to the Access/start authorization control module (J518) along the existing wiring harness to the location of the storage compartment in the center of the instrument panel.

The old antenna wrapped in the wiring harness remains unconnected in the vehicle and is not removed.

Secure the new antenna wiring on the existing wiring harness to prevent rattling noises.

- Apply a strip of Velcro (15 mm x 190 mm) - 1 - in the location illustrated in the instrument panel.

- Wrap the end of the antenna wire - 2 - with a fleece band and secure it on the Velcro fastener as illustrated.
