Comfort System Central Control Module J393

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

If Comfort System Central Control Module is to be replaced, the work procedure => [ Replacing/Coding ] Replacing/Coding to read out the codes stored in the module must always be performed.

After replacing Comfort System Central Control Module, other functions of the Comfort System Central Control Module such as "anti-theft immobilizer", "anti-theft alarm system", "access/start authorization", "tire pressure monitoring system" and central locking system key must also be adapted, depending on vehicle equipment.

For these, start with adaptation of anti-theft immobilizer (=> [ Anti-Theft Immobilizer Control Module J362, Adapting ] Anti-Theft Immobilizer Control Module J362, Adapting) and then the other, equipment-dependent functions of Comfort System Central Control Module in any sequence.

Removing

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).

- Remove the glove compartment.

- Remove both nuts - 1 - and the comfort system central control module with the bracket - 2 - from the fastener threads. Be careful of the connected wires.






The openings on the connected and bracket must align exactly to release and disconnect the connector.

- Release the retaining tab - 3 - and slide the comfort system central control module in the bracket in the - direction of the arrow - until the openings on the connector - 1 - align with the openings - 2 - in the bracket.






- Disconnect the connector from the comfort system central control module.

The number of electrical connections depends on vehicle equipment level and market version.

All harness connectors are only to be connected in one location and must therefore not be marked.

- Open the four side retainers - arrows - and remove the cover - 1 -.






- Remove the comfort system central control module - 2 - from the bracket.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The connector can only be connected and locked when the openings on it - 1 - and on the bracket - 2 - align exactly.






- Tighten the nuts to 4.5 Nm.
