Lateral Accelerometer: Service and Repair






ESP Sensor Unit

ESP Sensor Unit (G419) consists of Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200) and Rotation Rate Sensor (G202). They are installed in one housing under front passenger's seat.

After replacing the ESP sensor unit, a basic setting must be performed for the transverse acceleration sensor.


Excessive shaking (e.g. dropping, impact) may destroy the ESP sensor unit. ESP sensor unit must then no longer be used.

Removing

- Remove front passenger seat. Refer to

- Remove sill panel trim.

- Lift carpet and lay it aside.

- Remove connector station - 1 -.





- Raise floor covering.

- Disconnect connector - 1 - from the ESP sensor unit.





- Remove the two nuts - arrows -.

- Remove the ESP sensor unit.

Installing

- Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

When installing the ESP sensor unit, be sure it is properly seated on the bracket and is free of tension.

Do not use the securing nuts to forcibly position the ESP sensor unit.

- Tighten the nuts to 9 Nm.

- Perform basic setting of transverse acceleration sensor.
