Selector Shaft Lever Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Sleeve (VW 423)

• Pulling Hook (T20143)

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

- Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission.

- Remove the selector shaft lever nut - arrow -.

- Carefully pry the lever - A - from selector shaft.





- Pry out the seal.





- Lightly oil the new seal on the outer circumference.

- Fill the area between the sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128).

- Drive the new seal in until seated; be sure not to distort the seal.





- Install the selector shaft lever and tighten the nut to 20 Nm.

The selector shaft lever fits onto the splines only in one position.

- Install the selector lever cable to the transmission, and adjust it.
