Throttle Body: Service and Repair






Throttle Body

Removing






- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

- Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the throttle body (1).

- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body.

- Disconnect engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) from the throttle body.

- Remove the throttle body bolts (4).

- Remove the throttle body (1) from the intake manifold (2).






- Inspect the J nuts (1) for damage or excessive wear, replace as necessary.

- Inspect the intake manifold to throttle body gasket (2) for damage, replace necessary.

Installing






- Install a new intake manifold to throttle body gasket (2).

- Install new J nuts (1).







DO NOT over tighten the throttle body bolts. Over tightening can cause damage to the throttle body, gaskets, bolts and/or the intake manifold.

- Position the throttle body (1) to the intake manifold (2).

- Install the throttle body bolts (4) hand tight.

- Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) to the throttle body (1).







The throttle body bolts must be tightened in a mandatory tightening sequence. Tighten to specification in a crisscross pattern.

- Tighten the throttle body bolts in a crisscross pattern as shown to 7.5 Nm (65 in lbs).

- Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the throttle body.

- Tighten the air cleaner air duct clamp and the throttle body. Tighten the clamp to 4 Nm (35 in lbs).

- Connect the negative battery cable.

- Use a scan tool and perform the electronic throttle control relearn function.
