B1861 - Passenger Window Control Circuit Open
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.
• When Monitored: Whenever the window motor is operating.
• Set Condition: The module does not detect any current draw during a window movement command.
Test Step 1 - Test for an Intermittent Condition
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
• Try to operate the passenger Window UP and DOWN several times.
• Wait 30 seconds.
• With the scan tool, check for DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1861 - Passenger Window Control Circuit Open?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 2
No
• The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 2 - Window Motor Or Circuit Open
• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Disconnect the passenger window motor connector.
• the graphic shows the right hand drive connector. See the schematic for the left hand drive connectors.
• Connect a 12 volt test lamp between the passenger window motor UP circuit and the passenger window motor DOWN circuit
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Operate the passenger window switch UP and DOWN several times while observing the test lamp.
Does the test lamp illuminate brightly when the switch is pressed in both directions? If the vehicle is equipped with express UP windows, the light may only flash momentarily.
Yes
• Replace the passenger window motor.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
No
• Go to Test Step 3
Test Step 3 - Passenger Window Passenger UP Circuit Open
• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Disconnect the passenger door module C4 harness connector.
• Measure the resistance of the passenger window motor UP circuit between the passenger window motor connector and the passenger door module C4 connector.
Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 4
No
• Repair the passenger window UP circuit for an open.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 4 - Passenger Window DOWN Circuit Open
• Measure the resistance of the passenger window motor DOWN circuit between the passenger window motor connector and the passenger door module C4 connector.
Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms?
Yes
• Replace the passenger door module.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
No
• Repair the passenger window motor DOWN circuit for an open.
• Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
