Lower Intake Manifold






Lower Intake Manifold

Removing

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to => [ Cooling System Draining and Filling ] Cooling System Draining and Filling.

- Remove the fuel rail. Refer to => [ Fuel Rail ] Service and Repair.

- Loosen the radiator upper hose to thermostat housing clamp.

- Remove the radiator upper hose from the thermostat housing.

- Remove the power steering pump reservoir nut (1) and reposition the reservoir (2) aside.






- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature sensor.

- Disconnect the heater hoses from the lower intake manifold.

- Disconnect the coolant recovery reservoir hose at the thermostat housing.

- Remove the lower intake manifold bolts.

- Remove the lower intake manifold (1) and gasket (2).






Installing

- Clean all gasket sealing surfaces.

Make sure the extruded holes in the gasket are installed in the recessed holes in the cylinder head.

- Place the new gaskets onto the cylinder heads.

- Set the lower intake manifold into place.






- Install the intake manifold bolts and tighten in the sequence shown to 28 Nm (21 ft lbs).

- Connect the coolant recovery reservoir hose at the thermostat housing.

- Connect the heater hoses to the lower intake manifold.

- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector to the ECT sensor.

- Position the power steering pump reservoir (2) and install the nut (1). Tighten the nut to 12 Nm (9 ft lbs).






- Install the radiator upper hose to the thermostat housing.

- Tighten the radiator upper hose to thermostat housing clamp.

- Install the fuel rail. Refer to => [ Fuel Rail ] Service and Repair.

- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Cooling System Draining and Filling ] Cooling System Draining and Filling.
