Throttle Body: Service and Repair






Throttle Body

Removing

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

- Remove the engine cover (1).






- Remove the clean air hose from the throttle body.

- Disconnect wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the throttle body (2).






- Remove the throttle body bolts - arrows - and remove the throttle body.






Installing

Make sure the throttle body gasket is clean and free of debris. Inspect the gasket for damage. Replace as necessary.

- Install the throttle body, gasket and bolts - arrows -.







Do not over tighten the throttle body bolts. Over tightening can cause damage to the throttle body, gaskets, bolts and/or the intake manifold. The throttle body must be tightened in a mandatory sequence. Tighten in a crisscross pattern to the correct tightening specification.

- Tighten the throttle body bolts in the sequence shown. Tighten the bolts to 5.5 Nm (50 in lbs).






- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the throttle body (2).

- Install the clean air hose to the throttle body.






- Install the engine cover (1).






- Connect the negative battery cable.

- Use a scan tool and perform the electronic throttle control relearn function.
