Selector Mechanism, Lever and Cable, from 11 September 09

Short Description






The selector mechanism and the selector lever cable cannot be separated from each other. Both are removed at the same time. It may be necessary to create some open space in the engine compartment. Many times it is necessary to remove the air filter housing.

In the vehicle interior, it may be necessary to remove the center console.

• Check the cable for ease of movement after installing it.

- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.

- Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Shift Lever Handle.

- Remove the center console. Refer to "Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim".

- Remove the 4 bolts.






Tightening specification: 8 Nm.

- Remove the lock washer.






- Always replace the lock washer for the selector lever cable.

- Remove the cable from the selector shaft lever ball head.

- In order to remove the cable and/or selector mechanism, the heat shield and if necessary exhaust system components must now be removed.

- Remove the heat shield.

- Remove the selector mechanism.






Install in reverse order of removal.

- Put the vehicle and the transmission in "P" before installing the cable.

- Before positioning the ball head: Check the cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

- Install the exhaust system, if necessary.

- Install the heat shield.

- Adjust the selector lever cable after installing. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
