Lock Carrier with Attachments

• The lock carrier is a safety-relevant component and for this reason it may not be serviced.

• Replace the lock carrier if it is damaged.

Removing

- Remove the left and right headlamps. .

- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to => [ Front Bumper Cover ] Front Bumper Cover.

- Disconnect the cable from the cable coupling. Refer to => [ Cable Coupling ] Cable Coupling.

- Remove the mount next to the left and right headlamps. Refer to => [ Front Bumper Cover Guides and Bracket Assembly Overview ] Front Bumper Cover Guides and Bracket Assembly Overview.

- If the vehicle has a charge air cooler, disconnect the pressure hoses. Refer to => [ Pressure Hoses ] Pressure Hoses.

- Remove the right and left bolts - 1 - on the lock carrier bracket - 2 -.






- Only remove the bolts - 1 - for the lock carrier - 2 - on the left and right longitudinal member.






- Install a (T10093) into the holes in the left and right longitudinal member where the bolts were.

Have a second technician hold the hood and support rod.

- Remove the remaining bolts - 3 - for the lock carrier - 2 - on the left and right longitudinal members.

- Disconnect the any connectors.

- Drain the coolant and disconnect the coolant lines.

- Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser.

Do not start the engine whenever the A/C system or coolant lines are disconnected.

- Support the hood and remove the support rod from the hood.






- Together with a second technician, remove the (T10093) on the left and right longitudinal members - 2 - and remove the lock carrier - 1 -.

• Never hang the condenser and the hydraulic fluid cooler on the lines.

• Never bend the condenser lines or the hydraulic fluid lines.

Installation






- Attach the lock carrier - 1 - to the longitudinal members - 2 -.

- Install the left and right (T10093).

Install in reverse order of removal.

• Make sure that all plug- and hose connections are corrected installed when re-assembling.

- Align the lock carrier and its attachments - 1 - on the longitudinal members and between the fenders.

Bolt tightening specification to the longitudinal member: 60 Nm

Bolt tightening specification for the bracket: 8 Nm
