Front Backrest







Front Backrest

Removing

- Attach the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) to the engine/transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat

- Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the trim on the tunnel side. Refer to => [ Tunnel Side Trim ] Tunnel Side Trim.

- Remove the backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ] Backrest Adjusting Wheel.

- Remove the seat height adjustment handle. Refer to => [ Seat Height Adjustment Handle ] Seat Height Adjustment Handle.

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim.

- Press the entry assistance release cables - 1 - and - 3 - out of the retaining plate - 2 - at the seat rail release.






- Disengage the release cable - 3 - from the seat rail release - arrow -.

The release cable are secured in part with cable ties, which need to be replaced during installation.

- Disengage the release cable - 1 - at the seat rail release idler pulley - 2 -.






- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the backrest and expose the disconnected wiring harnesses.

The wiring harness between the connection point and the side airbag is continuous.

- Remove the bracket - 1 - from the seat rail.






- Remove the bolts - 2 - (33 +/- 3 Nm).






- Tilt the backrest - 3 - forward onto the seat pan - 1 -.

- Press the seat pan upholstery to the side and carefully remove side airbag wiring harness - 4 - and, if necessary, all additional wiring harnesses for the backrest (depending on equipment) from the seat pan.

- Remove the backrest.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal.
