Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), Valeo

Always follow the sequence when removing and installing steering column switch components. Refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Module Components, Removing and Installing Sequence ] Steering Column Switch Module Components, Removing and Installing Sequence.

Risk of airbag deployment!

The airbag unit could deploy if mishandled.

Read the safety precautions when performing work on the airbag.

Always follow the instructions regarding disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to => [ Battery (A), Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery (A), Disconnecting and Connecting.

Removing

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting ] Disconnecting.

- Removing the steering wheel.

- Remove the steering column trim.

- Disconnect the connectors (depending on the vehicle equipment level) - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 -.






Do not twist the airbag spiral spring/return spring with slip ring (F138) on the steering column electronic systems control module out of its center position when removing it. The front wheels must be in the "straight-ahead position".

- Remove the screws - arrows - and remove the steering column electronic systems control module from the steering column switch.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The return lever on the turn signal switch (E2) could break off when installing the steering column electronic systems control module.

The turn signal switch must be in the 0 position when installing the steering column electronics control module.

- Slide the steering column electronic systems control module onto the steering column switch.

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Module Overview, Valeo ] Steering Column Switch Module Overview, Valeo.

- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Connecting.
