Instrument Panel
Removing
- Disconnect the battery.
- Remove the driver side airbag unit. Refer to => [ Driver Side Airbag Unit ] Driver Side Airbag Unit.
- Remove the steering wheel.
- Remove the instrument panel cover on each side. Refer to => [ Side Instrument Panel Covers ] Side Instrument Panel Covers.
- Remove upper A-pillar trims. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Upper A-Pillar Trim.
- Remove center console => [ Center Console ] Center Console.
- Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to => [ Instrument Cluster Trim ] Instrument Cluster Trim.
- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to => [ Glove Compartment ] Glove Compartment.
- Remove the steering column trim. Refer to => [ Steering Column Trim ] Steering Column Trim.
- Remove the steering column electronics control module (J527).
- Remove the steering column combination switch (E595).
- Remove the instrument cluster.
- Remove the left driver side instrument panel cover. Refer to => [ Driver Side Instrument Panel Cover ] Driver Side Instrument Panel Cover.
Vehicles with Radio System
- Remove the radio.
Vehicles with Navigation
- Remove the navigation display and controls.
Procedure for All Vehicles
- Remove the screws - 1 -, - 3 - and - 4 - from the instrument panel - 2 - (1.5 Nm).
- Remove the screws - 1 -, - 3 - and - 4 - from the instrument panel - 2 - (1.5 Nm).
- Disconnect the wiring harness - 1 - from the front passenger airbag unit.
Vehicles with Dual Stage Airbag Units
- Disconnect the wiring harness - 2 - from the front passenger airbag unit.
Procedure for All Vehicles
- Remove the clip - arrow - from the mount - 4 -.
- Remove the bolts - 3 - from the bracket - 4 - (9 Nm).
- Remove the instrument panel - 1 - from the mounts in the windshield transition area - 2 - - arrow -.
- Pull the instrument panel - 2 - forward from the instrument panel crossmember - 1 -.
- Depending on the vehicle equipment level, disconnect the wiring harnesses and remove the instrument panel - 2 - with a second technician.
Installation
• Check all the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary before installing. Replace any damaged components.
- Connect the mount - 1 - to the retaining strap on the body - 2 -.
- Mount the instrument panel - 2 - onto the instrument panel crossmember - 1 - with a second technician.
- Insert the instrument panel - 1 - into the mounts in the windshield transition area - 2 - - arrow -.
- Install in reverse order of removal.
